MY93-96 INSTRUMENT BINNACLE REMOVAL PROCEDURE ???
As per title.
Looks to be a bit of a bugger trying to unplug all the electrical switch connectors, etc.....
So is there a written procedure to follow to be able painlessly remove the instrument binnacle?

Drop steering wheel.
Unscrew the 4 screws holding it in.
You can then pull out the binnacle (top first iirc) and rest it where the parking light is.
Then spend a few minutes cursing and swearing because you can't see how the plugs come out, then curse the light for alarm system because it isn't detachable and the actually wiring doesn't seem to come out far enough to get yours hands on to the plugs and when you do get to remove the plugs they come out quite quickly and you smack your hand onto the dash.
When i've removed mine i had a look underneath the dash to see if any of the wires could be pushed up to give a little more leeway.

the sockets arnt too clear in that pic. they are far left (edge of unit) and far right (edge of unit) where the pcb curls round. then theres the blue connector and the speedo cable. hardest bit is getting the speedo cable back in. i remove the bottom dash panel for this (very easy) and then reach up the back.
carefull not to pull the unit too far out before removing the connectors. it helps to slide the unit on its side back into the dash to get at the plugs if you know what i mean!

I've already got it pre-booked into ZEN for them to fit a replacement 180mph white-dial'd binnacle/speedo converter - I don't mind paying if it means the job gets done properly... and allowing me to keep my cool in the process lol
Oh and sorry b13bat, thanks for your input too - as you were the first to mention the 4 connections, anyway.
