Default fault code 45 - map sensor

im getting fault code 45 which i looked up and is map sensor what is this and how do i solve it? i also get 22 and 23 which are knock and maf... suspect the knock is due to engine mounts needing replacing and maf i cleaned and solved but has come back

It's a little black sensor right next to the boost solenoid that receives a boost reference from the inlet manifold via its vac hose connection. The sensor is also wired to the ECU, so that the ECU knows what the boost is at any point in time. The MAP sensors are rated at a max level of absolute boost, so when they fail, could lead to overboosting, as it won't be able to tell the ECU when boost cut has been breached, etc...

(I believe this happened recently to member SkullFudge's gorge P1 running c.500bhp!)

Very important - replace it!

If it is the MAP sensor, then you will probably be getting fuel cut as the boost comes in - this feels like you've suddenly stamped on the brakes while accelerating!

I think they are over £100 new, but you could try a breakers (such as Grade A Subaru) who should sell you a 2nd/hand one for a lot less!!

This is on an early car (93wrx)

Black box next to the boost solenoid on the lhs of the picture

the map sensor is also called the pressure sensor.... is this the same thing right?! cheers man!
