diff codes?
i've managed to find out about most thing on the scoob, to determane what car its from
but still havn't a clue to to tell a diff apart
is there a chart on what the codes mean.
you know, 4.111 or 4.444 ect
if some one puts a diff in front of you and says its a bler bler
how can you tell its that?
i may be after soon a 4.44 diff, as mine is starting to wine a little
and need to make sure what im buying is really whats needed
this thread may also help other in my boat too

The best way to tell for ratios is to take the diff and make a mark at any point (where the splines rotate) and note carefully its position where the shafts exit the diff. Also mark the the prop shaft joining flange very carefully to give another set point.
Turn the propshaft flange until the drive shaft splines have rotated 360 degrees. Count how many times the prop shaft flange goes through 360 degrees and this will give you the ratio.
just past 4 revolutions = 4.111 diff, almost 4.5 revolutions = 4.444 diff. just under 4 revolutions = 3.9 ratio.... you get the idea
To check whether its plated or not you need to remove the oil and remove the back plate.

Not if you want to be 100% sure of what your buying..
you don't want a ratio mismatch or be sold a plated diff that turns out not to be.
anyway if your buying the rear diff only it should be off the car before you go to see it and part with your hard earned...
Cheers
