Default Confused! o2/lambda sensor??

I have a '99 uk turbo and recently its been missing and juddering at low revs so
I connected the plugs to get a fault code and it came up with the oxygen sensor.
I reset the ecu and it hasn't really come back, only once. I want to replace the sensor but i'm unsure where it's located. I've done a couple of search's but can't figure out whats what.

Is the o2 and lambda sensor the same thing?

Could someone please explain where o2 sensor is. Is it on the down pipe behind the turbo? Or is that the cat on fire?

Where could i purchase an o2 sensor from?

Sorry for all the questions. Any help would be great.

Marc

yes it's also known as a lambda sensor.i have a jdm v1 and it's in my headers but i'm 99% sure when i bought an am down pipe it had a O2 blanking point for the later models after the turbo.the sensors can be bought from main agents.hope it helps.

yes it's 100% in the exhaust downpipe tad after the turbo

mach is 100% correct on the earlier models it was in the headers.

On a my99 its at the top of the downpipe just after the turbo. There is also the cat on fire one, but its further down - the O2 (lambda) sensor is the bigger of the 2

Also in Mach's case yes the phase 1 imprezas (preMY97) had it in the headers. Mach, if you have a downpipe with the blank for the sensor, its best to put it there for longevity reasons (hence why it was moved). However I have found in the past that these sensors don't like being removed, so IMO next time you replace the O2 sensor, swap the bung and sensor around, there is just enough length of loom to do so.
