ECU Mapping

ECU Mapping
I've got a UK PPP Ecu on the car. If I make any changes such as a de-cat do I have any options other than taking it to someone to remap? Is there anything off the shelf I can use? I'm trying to keep the budget down a bit

What type/MY of car is this, and what else on the engine isn't showroom standard?
If you're talking about an otherwise standard UK PPP car, and all you're thinking of doing is a partial/full decat, it shouldn't need remapping so on that basis you've already saved yourself a fair bit of money.
Remapping (or some sort of external boost/fuelling control) only becomes essential if you're talking about more fundamental mods - turbo swaps and the like.

It's an 04 UK car in very good condition. I had an MY99 which I did a lot to but I know I spent more on remaps than anything else in the end! Just trying to keep it to a budget where it's not cheaper to go and buy another car.

Depends if WRX or STi really - STi will overboost to 1.5bar+ so the torque curve will be up and down like a yoyo and may well lead to detonation whereas the WRX can be run on the standard map. It's not ideal and will not provide best performance but it will run if a little juicy on boost as the standard map runs very low 10 afr.
