Anywhere between 30-100+K but much depends on the engine and 100's other variables....

Fuel, Oil, Heat, Age, Mixture, Cat, luck, colour of pants you wear etc etc

should be fine, but they can be damaged by thermal shock (fuel, condensation etc) or from being beaten about a bit.

I don't see how the garage that fitted it could have damaged it remotely after 7000 miles, it has nothing to do with them.

i didnt mean it had anything do do with the garage that fitted it, was just thinking, should it of lasted longer, or maybe a faulty one, im not sure how long it has been broken for, i have only driven my scoob for around 2 weeks this year.

I think it was working when I mapped the car last, I can check the logs. but if it goes it goes. If you had an intercooler pipe come off on boost that can be enough to wipe out a lambda sensor as there is lots of unburnt fuel that goes into the exhaust, and the thermal shock cracks the ceramic, when they go badly they rattle.

Just to add, I have had my MY99 for 8 years now. I have used it virtually everyday over a variety of journeys etc. I replaced the original one at 64k that was 18 months ago with an OE version and have had no problems. I would be very disappointed for it to fail in such a short period.
