Angry ghost car

can anyone shed any light on my little problem i have a 95 impreza 2000 turbo auto and it's great but i have noticed everytime i brake the side lights come on????. i have checked the rear lights looms but they seem fine. i am at a loss please help.

What your front side lights come on or just the rears?

Have you changed the bulbs? If they are twin contact bulbs (sidelight + brake light in one) they might be shorting out. Or you've got a dodgy earth.

i have changed the bulbs i put stop & tails in, completely forgot about that!! not had the car for long so don't know anything about scoobs yet but i'm learning daily.lol

Could be a bad earth on the circuit somewhere or possibly the brake switch wiring being trapped when the pedal is depressed - have you done any electrical work on the car recently like a new H.U or gauges ??

Trouble is it could be any of the bulbs shorting really, front or rear or even in the dash. I hate electrics!!!!!!!!! You could pop the plug off the back lights and check the pins for carbon or arking marks and depending what type of pins are on it give 'em a SLIGHT twist to make sure they are definately making good contact.

i had a keyless entry system fitted in january that's the only electrical thing i've had done . cheers for the response
