Hi
I have just bought a new exhaust and was a bit bemused when it turned up. I have never had a new exhaust before and never seen the inside of one so i dont know if what i have is normal or not.
Please look at the pictures below and let me know your thoughts:

The bit that i am confused about is the inner lip visible in the pictures, is it normal and im being a little **** or should it not be there?
Any help gratefully received!!!

it is the end of the pipe as you describe. i thought the flange should be welded to the end of the pipe and hence not having the lip?
either way it will be on the car soon so shall give up caring and enjoy the noise (whilst i can still hear) from a full decat with no silencer either lol

Ahh.Are you saying that the flange is free to move and the lip obviously stops it from falling off the end?
If so, then that's all normal - it's part of the 'ball and socket' junction between downpipe and centre section, emplying springs, nuts & bolts and a 'donut' wire wool gasket:-

I take it your photos are of the centre section at the downpipe end, yes?

the first 2 pictures are of the tail section where it will join the centre section and the 3rd is of the adapter that will mate the centre to the downpipe.
i have just popped out to the garage and compared these to the decat downpipe i already has and it appears to be the same, just had to look alot harder for the lip as the downpipe has been used and as yet the centre and tail section havent
basically, i think i was being a bit overly **** about how it looks
speaking of how things look i have tried to finish this post 3 times now and each time i have been distracted (or 'titmatized') by your avatar!

(the flange is welded around it).
