Whining gearbox
Hi all,
The gearbox on my version 3 STI has started to whine quite badly now. Its especially worse after giving the car a bit of stick. I suspect its some sort of bearings. Can someone tell me what exactly the problem might be?? Oil level is fine all round.

i had the same problem on my car, was whinning for months, and got louder and louder, then one day was doing about 50 mph in 5th gear dropped down to 3rd and bang, shredded 3rd gear, so expect it to go soon and i would advoid giving it any stick or harsh gear changes

Imran i think you need to speak to Welcome to the API website
As without stripping the gearbox it is quite difficult to tell what the issue is.

lt's probably the rear output shaft bearings. We can almost certainly fix it while u wait .
