Default Cam Pulley removal

Hi all,

I took the plunge and decided to to the engine removal today, I unbolted everything and unplugged everything. Took a trip to a tool hire place to get a crane, managed to get eninge out and drop crane off in 50 mins!!! only cost £17.

Here is the trouble bit, I have tried taking the cam pulleys off and they wont budge! i've snapped one hex key and one ratchet trying to get them off.

Am I doing something wrong or is there a specific way that you undo the bolts on these?

Car is a UK 2001 Bugeye WRX

Thanks in advance

Andy

Whip the cam covers off and hold the camshaft with a 29mm ish spanner on the flats of the camshaft.
Large breaker bar with a 10mm allen key socket normally does the job.
