Default over boosting?

Whats causes the scoob to over boost?

Mine has started to do this now for a while, so only running on low boost (ecuteck map) tried to give it a run in high boost but the CEL come on and left it on low boost...

Looking for some help on fixing?

could be your acctuator chap,, i experienced this problem on a evo 7 i previously owned and it turned out to be the actuator... there are a few easy tests you can do,, i.e. soapy water on actuator where rod exits see if it bubbles on idle or with slight revs, or disconnect the vacuum to it and attach a foot pump and see if air escapes when pumped..

worth a try!! hope this can help

regards sam

Thanks for the info guys, i'll check the pipes and do the test. I'll send Andy F an email and see what he says. Hopefully be getting a map tweak soon too.

Im new to these cars, but on my old MR2 turbo, so also a 2l tubby, fitting a 3'' exhaust system straight through caused a world of overboost problems.

Maybe if you have fitted a new downpipe the wategate could be catching? We used to have these problems with cheap downpipes- they just needed grinding

Not fitted anything else since it was mapped in 07, so I guessing it could be the actuator, but i'll find out soon when its tweaked.

THanks for all help!

I doubt it is the actuator.

There are lots of CEL codes.

I suspect it will be an overboost fuel cut CEL - it might just need the limits raising or it might need the wastegate duty tables trimmed slightly to stop it overboosting depending on how seriously overboosting it is and whether the engine is happy with it.

Depends on the CEL code though really. Can you get the car to someone local with the relevant software or code reader?
