Default Newage Downpipe Issues

Hi Guys

I have a 2002 STI Bugeye with the Blitz Nur Spec backbox and center section.

What downpipe's are you using? I have a downpipe at the moment that eliminates the downpipe cat and the cat pipe (one piece)

reference: (http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog...ust_system.jpg)

But the fitment is crap and is causing a blow where it meets the centre section. It looks like a poor design making it about 1/4 inch short so pulls exhaust system back slightly.

So i ordered a HKS downpipe (One piece) and that is even shorter than the

exsisting one??

Any advice

The first problem may just be incompatibility between different aftermarket makers.
The problem with the HKS may be that you've bought a downpipe intended for a pre 2001 car. Is it about 10cm shorter than the std d/pipe & cat sections together?

iirc there's also a difference between UK and JDM cars which may cause the fitment issues

@ Butty. It was discussed with the supplier about what car it was for. As i have one that isn't a great fit i was specific to check this would fit.

@ JonMc. It was mentioned it was for a UK spec car.

Yeah i would say approx 10cm shorter

hi

agree with butty, i ordered a hks one that was listed to fit a newage and it was about 10cm too short, ordered another hks from a different supplier who also stated it was for a newage and this was also about 10cm too short, they contacted hks who stated 'it may not fit certain applications'

Went for a revolution one in the end that eliminated both cats and fitted like a glove.

Can i ask where you got the revolution one from. Failing that was going to speak to Hayward & Scott.

So as per that link i posted it removed the downpipe and the cat pipe?

Revolution one on order. Price wasn't an issue but fitment was.

Quick question i have a Blitz Nur specd centre and backbox now will i need a 3" gasket or 2"???

I know both ends flange but to what diameter?

You'll need a 2.5" gasket. The Nur Spec is a 3" system with a step down flange to 2.5".

I would expect the revolution to flange at 2.5" as well to enable it to mate up to a factory system. If the downpipe is 3", it may be worth considering getting the flanges replaced with 3" ones to remove that restriction - that's my plan for later this year

Cheers Jon

So you saying get the Flanges modified from the 2.5" to a 3". how easily is that done?

Sure you'd need to weld on a 3" flange?

Yes you'll need to get them welded in, but any half decent welder should be able to do it for you, even better an exhaust place like a powerflow dealer

Can i ask what other exhaust parts you have.

I have received my downpipe and haven't checked fitment. I have my old downpipe off but my initial thought is this might be short

I have the Blitz Nur Spec centre and backbox. Could i possibly have a Jap model of exhaust?

Would a jap version be shorter/longer

I have a JDM Hawkeye. I recently fitted a zeropsports downpipe which includes the cats ( never said anything but im guessing thats just a jdm length if the downpipe size even changes) I've still got the standard jdm center pipe but I have just ordered a center section from scoobyparts. They state that the length is 1260mm while some JDM will require longer 1350mm. I measured mine as the 1260mm same as UK spec 2.5 etc etc Think classic imprezas are longer than the newage ones dunno what the rest of your system is like guess the nur spec is suited for yours ok
