Default Kent Cams

Hi,
Has anyone tried these fast road cams?

I'm in the middle of an engine build for my Type R.

I came across Kent Cams for £350 on an exchange basis. For that money would it be worth sticking them in as I'll be going for an Andy Forrest remap as soon as engine is run in?

Would there be much power to be gained from these cams?

Cheers folks,
Ryan

Remember the standards v3/4 cams will push 500bhp, so for what they are and value in your case free they're very good.

I would do a a query about the kent cams first though as they could possibly be re-grinds of a type r cam.

Power wise its a near standard "99 V5 Type R engine.

In the middle of a rebuild with-
X drilled nitrided V9 crank
ACL Race bearings
Manley rods
standard pistons.
competition oil pump
cosworth baffle plate
Walbro pump
Scoobysport decat downpipe & full Blitz Nur spec
Green panel

I'm aiming for pretty standard power but want relaibilty so will be gettin remapped shortly after rebuild.

I saw these cams and thought for the price of them would they give a bit more performance once the cars mapped? From past experience in N/A cars putting high lift cams in gave a very noticeable jump in power/torque.
Would this be the case with turbo engined cars as well?
And yes they are regrinds.

You can get good gains with Kent cams (dependant on lift/duration) especially with
a good port and polish job on the heads and a set of Vernier Pulleys to degree the cams in.
If they are re-grinds, you will normally need some of Kents Top Hat shims which are longer in length to compensate for the material removed from the cam when ground.
These are then linished/ground to get your correct valve clearance.
