2day the check engine light has been flashing on and off

It started this morning when I first started the car up to warm it up.

If I touch the throttle, it seems to go out but only comes on after a few seconds when the throttle is not applied. As soon as I touch the throttle it goes out

Yesterday, I did an oil change and took the o/s bonnet vent cover off.

Just got in and on the way home earlier I gave the car some beans down this straight and as I changed to 3rd, there was a massive back fire????

Now it is not affecting the performance in any way..... But can anyone help

if it is a classic you can read the error code using the connectors under the dash..
have details of how to on my website
