ALS and turbo wear
I'm interested in how much turbo wear mild ALS causes. Im considering changing from my apexi to a simtek ecu to get rid of the maf ( my cars a 99) and also considering having the als, launch option as intending to sprint the car ( works got in the way for this year). I dont intend to use the ALS much except on sprints and the odd occasion for effect( more the mrs than me, but if it gets me the green light on the new ecu then who am I to argue) but just want to know if it'll frag my turbo etc and whether I need a forged build etc. Final question is does it cause a lot of extra engine heat?
thx

Hi mate,
I've just had Simtek fitted on my my99 with ALS and its so much fun, very hard to drive with unless you are using the throttle as an on and off switch, The heat build up will be in your manifold and turbo so that in itself can cause premature turbo wear,
Its more of a gimmick than of any use, But hey, Its good at night to show your mates,

I,ve had ANTI-LAG on my last 3 cars via Autronic.
I never suffered ANY turbo damage and one was run for about 8k miles with it fitted, only ever did 2min blasts of it though and as t7srt says above, it,s NOT a fully blown anti-lag like the WRC cars, it,s just a gimmick really, but great fun.
Launch control is manic too, i had this on my 480bhp Evo MR....

pete you suffer much on the clutch front with the launch control? The cars running 383 with my apexi id like the map to be slightly more agressive to clear the 400 mark as the second map will be for day to day usage.
