How easy to install a new downpipe ?
How easy is it to install an after market downpipe from the turbo on a Newage MY05 WRX ?
If the car was raised off the ground onto railway sleepers or something similar, would there be enough room to change the downpipe on your own?
Anything else needed to do this upgrade, eg, new gaskets etc?
Cheers, M.

i changed mine on car ramps, re-used the gasket with exhaust paste but the car was about 3 months old at the time so everything was shiny and new. i had to remove the turbo heat shield too to modify it as the new downpipe fouled the shield, it just required a bit of cutting with a grinder.

I think you'd probably need a bit more clearence than a couple of sleepers. It's not that difficult technicaly, it's just a pain in the **** lol.
I changed my 03 sti the other day putting a prodrive sports cat on. Luckily I could put the car onto a hydraulic lift in the vehicle workshop (army). The biggest ball ache is the bottom nut on the turbo/downpipe. Their isn't much room to work and you can't move the spanner very much so it's very time consuming. Apart from that it's pretty straight forward (as long as non of your studs or nuts are seized up).
Just remove your ic and it's mounting bracket. I then undid the brake fluid reservoir so i could move it out the way. Remove the heat shield (which can be a bit of a bitch). Then it's just a matter of undoing the nut's on the turbo. When you get to the 5th one you'll have to get under the car. That's when the fun begins lol.
I think as long as you can comfertably (and safely) get under the car with room to work and manouvre then you shouldn't have any probs.
