P1507 but no performance change....
Hi, Just bought my first Subaru; an '02 Legacy 2.0 petrol manual station wagon. Love it! The day after I got it, however, the engine symbol appeared on the dash. It then disappeared and now appears intermittently without any set pattern in regard to driving. There is no difference in performance at anytime. A friend plugged in a hand-held scanner and told me it was code 'P1507'. He suggested I might need a new Idle Control Unit but a neighbour suggested spraying carb cleaner down the air filter intake (sorry, I'm not technical). I'm new to this forum but would appreciate any help or advice. Many thanks.

That code is an "idle control system malfunction".
If the car runs OK I'd be inclined to ignore it until there are some symptoms. An idle problem won't damage your engine but replacing parts will damage your wallet.
I have a feeling carb cleaner isn't going to help much here.
