Default Oil Leak

Seems the scooby has developed an oil leak from somewhere...

Its on the drivers side bank, but its not coming from the block... it seems to be coming from one of the pipes above the block, dripping down.

Now ive looked at all the pipes and they seem fine, any ideas where else i could look?

Is it under the header tank..?

The o/s rocker cover breather hose (comes out of the top of a small black casing on top of head) has a habit of getting quite brittle and loose- due to heat from turbo/up-pipe iirc. Results in quite a bit of oil seeping down rocker cover. Trace the oil seepage back up to it's highest point, I can almost guarantee it will be this hose..

I recently had this on my 05 wrx, only it was just some dampness around the hose (I thought at first it was the gasket around black casing on top of head). Fortunately in my case, a new jube clip did the trick, as hose wasn't too bad.

Aye it does seem to be above the header tank... will have another look when i get home.

You dont happen to know how much a replacement hose would be?

Not got a clue how much the hose would be, shouldn't be too bad..?

Best bet it to try and clean up as much of the leaked oil as possible and keep a close eye on it to identify where it's coming from.

If it's the breather hose you could try fitting a new jube clip to see if it helps..

^^^
presisely, combined with age and heat they do loose tension. Try a jube clip, not a lot to lose..
