Default Starting problem ?

Good morning all,

Just a quick one, I have a STI v7 type UK PPP and I have noticed that in good or bad weather the engine seems to take an age to fire-up, i.e. I'll turn the key until the ignition lights on the dash are on, the fuel pump can be heard priming, wait as few seconds until priming is complete then turn the key to kick in the starter motor. After about 5 sec it hasn't fired up the engine, so switch off and repeat the sequence gain and voila - she's alive !.

I have a warranty on this which is runing out soon, so I'm keen to get any defective items replaced on the car. Personally I reckon it's the cold-start valve playing up but not sure.

Car has been recently service by Culverwells and fuel filter, plugs changed. so don't think it's these items. Also had a good look under the bonnet and can't seen any loose connections, etc.

I had 3 WRX before I went down the STI route and never had this before, could this be typical for the STI ?

Anyone have any ideas ?

It could be the spark plugs. Check the Spark Plug Gap they should be 0.028"-0.031" (0.7-0.8 mm) just a thought.

I'm going to call Culverwells and get them to check out the problem, it's really annoying. Don't seem to have a problem when warm so don't think it's the cold start valve (just a thought).

But first is there anyone in the Bromley area skilled at help me get those plugs out to check gaps ? I tried once on the WRX and gave up through lack of the correct short extension bar for the socket.
