Default HELP ! not running rite....

hello people jus got my self a 1993 wrx awd ! thing is it aint runin rite , it starts 1st time every time an idles fine but once i giv it a rev it starts 2 idle funny like it goin to cank out for a few secs then returns 2 normal! but then when it heats up it'l drv fine up the revs but when go to slow to a stop its cut out ???? any ideas ???

had a mechanic luk at it says the dump valve was chokin it ? replaced it today with a new BOV one .. still the same ..

the boy who i got it off say he put £20 of unleaded petrol in it b4 i got it think that cud b the problem ??? but i have now put another £20 of super unleaded in da c that helps

all advice wud b greatly appreciated as this my 1st scooby

MAF perhaps (either check the voltage or when the car is idling unplug it it should stall if not then the MAF may be knackered)
Check the BOV pipework possibly even get a standard recirc one only about £10 from a breakers.
Check for any air leaks from the engine pipework.

Unleaded (95 ron) petrol isn't really suitable for imports ,97+ will be beter (possibly not BP Ultimate).

Also to be pedantic you may want to not use text speak i believe it may be against the terms and conditions of the website

hello people was looking into this .. am wee took out the idle control valve cleaned it with carb cleaner, didnt solve the prob ! wee conected the read wires under the steering colum it give codes 45 (pressure sensor) and 24 (open/short isc valve) ...any ideas ???? ever happened to anyone else ? someone also said a knackered MAF

24 is the idle control valve

45 is



Cylinder is your boost solenoid,black item to the left of the coloured wires is the MAP sensor and the orangey/brown thing is the pressure exchange solenoid.

i would guess your MAP sensor isn't working properly possibly this may lead onto the other error code being present.

alrite mate thanks for the picture ! so you think i should change the MAP sensor and the idle control valve ??? how much you talking ? ebay im guessing ??

I would reset the ecu first to see if this sorts out the fault codes.

As for parts i'm not really sure Ebay would be a start but there are loads of subaru breakers in the UK and as for prices not a clue i'm afraid sorry.
