Replacing ECU 1999 Impreza turbo 2000 AWD.
Am hoping to replace the engine ECU on my 1999 Impreza 2000 Turbo AWD. Need to know where it is and how to go about replacing the unit. I already have the replacement for it but that's about as far as I've got without ripping things out blindly.
Many thanks in advance.

its in the passenger footwell (directly under where u would put your feet), just remove the carpet and u will see it under a metal can, think its only held in by a couple of screws. its just a matter of swopping the 'plugs' over to the new one

Where do I start! Scooby first started to present running lumpy and hunting until it would cut out - unless you could hold the revs at or above 2500! It was also at the same time, very intermittent at starting whether hot or cold? Put into a Scooby garage and they replaced a censor (Air mass I think)
Car drove fine for 24 hours, then presented exactly the same. Car back into Scooby and this time it showed a fault 24 and they replaced a unit. Again car drove fine going home and was the same again within 24 hours of normal urban driving! I couldn't afford for them to do any more work regarding the problem!
Now have the car at home and ironically enough, if I don't use the turbo boost at all. The car runs like a dream, starts every time and purrs along. So for now its Miss Daisy all the way and killing both me and my Scooby. There is another very interesting factor, since having the problems with my car, it seems I can red line the car in any gear now without the dump cutting in to prevent it?
The Scooby garage said it's the quickest car they've driven and being the way it is, without the dump valve cutting in. I risk blowing it up? All they could surmise is that maybe at some stage during its engine ref-fit. It's been chipped but couldn't say definitively? Any ideas would be very much appreciated Alan. I've got a used, tested, and guaranteed ECU which I will try and fit some time today if I can and see where I go from there?
Cheers.

You won't blow the engine with a non-opening dv - but you could shorten the turbocharger's life.
Is the dv an after market VTA (vent to air) one? If so, this could be the problem with the lumpy running. Refit a genuine OEM recirc, do a ECU reset and go from there.
Report back with your findings...
