Hi i would try swapping this lead with another cylinder and see if fault moves. This lead going down should not stop the turbo spooling up i think? check plug and maybe compression test cylinder. what year is your scoobie there are 2 types of boost ports fitted if you search then it will tell you how to clean it.
hope this helps, john

I hope you're joking or Impreza's are different to other cars, as I have it under good knowledge if you swap HT leads from one cylinder to another it can bugger the timing and cause cylinder damage. I know this is the case for my 205GTi and would assume the same for a boxer engine also

If you want to check the lead for that cylinder then remove it from coil pack and replace it with one that works. you will not alter the timing in any way.

Doesn't sound good mate. The smoke means there's something amiss, and couple that with the missfire I would guess that the problem cylinder will be down on compression.
I don't know what the compression should read (I think it's around 90psi, but I may have made that up...), but if you test all the cylinders it will be obvious which one is low and by how much.
Good luck.
