The MY97 WRX should have a Td04 turbo. Pop the hood and read on the compressor house!

For injector size, also pop the hood and look at whatever you can of the injectors, the 380's have grey plastic at the top, the 440's have yellow tops.

The 97 wrx and sti had the same yellow 440cc injectors, the sti has the VF23 turbo and the wrx should have the VF22. Only the JDM wrx wagon had the td04 hope that helps

thanks guys.

The reason i ask is because i'm replacing my blown wrx engine with a v3 sti type ra engine but it comes without the turbo so will be fitting my wrx turbo onto it. is there much in it between a vf22 and vf23? i'm looking to get the car remapped with an apexi ecu. I have a straight through decat exhaust setup, uprated clutch, lightened flywheel, walbro fuel pump, k&N filetr, and possibly looking to get the headers ported.

Just wondered what sort of bhp i could get safely

thanks

The VF22 is quite a poor turbo for the power level, as it is laggy and cant handle more than 1.4 bar as the blades will shatter. If you are going for a remap you could stick on something newer such as a vf28, vf34 or a vf35 and your current setup will be good for around 320 bhp with any of the 3 above turbos.
