Default Do I need to reset the ECU???

Having driven around for a while (without fully realising) with a sticky caliper pistonor two, cooking a brake disc, replacing said disc and sorting out the caliper, the car is now running slightly odd. It's not fair to call it rough but it's certainly not smoooooth.

Is it possible that having driven with an artifical extra load on the engine (stuck brakes) that the ecu has 'learned' how to manage and now that the extra loading has been removed, the ecu is incorrectly set up?

Or will it adapt by itself?

It's an 03WRX btw!!

It's unlikely to... but IS possible. And it would have retarded the ignition if anything (making it less powerful). So, yeah, you can't do any harm by resetting. But now that you've fixed the binding brakes, then if the ECU did detect a load, it won't now... so it'll just re-optimise the timing within a day or two of driving anyhow...

Thanks for the post. Yeah, I did kinda think that if it was able to respond quick enough to the extra load that it should be able to detect that it was back to normal. I'll persevere for a couple of days and see if it advances the ignition again (assuming that's what it needs!)
