it seems to do it more when cold, not so much when going around corners - I have had the car for a couple of years and ran without fault this only started happening a couple of days ago - i will check all of the pipes and hoses - shall I just check everything is tight with no splits ?? - if everything ok would that siggest it was a fuel pump ?/

check pipes are connected, not split and connected properly.
Check the bottom hose off the boost solenoid (drivers side suspension turret) as it should have a restrictor pill in it
Boost Solenoid Plumbing
Do you know if the car has been modded in any way (induction kit, decat etc)

about 2 days ago ran fin up until then, I am going to check all the pipes e.t.c and have just ordered a new fuel pump anyway as the current one is a standard one and looks to be original.
Its strange as the problem occured on Friday and then I drove it again later that day and quite hard around some back lanes and it was completely fine, got in it saturday night after it had been stood and it started misbehaving again after only a few minutes -I have not used it since.

You really shouldn't be attempting to boot it when the engine is not upto normal operating temp - not good for turbo and engine. Wait until at least the water temp needle gets to its normal postion - about a needle-width below halfway i.e. when it doesn't rise any futher.
Even then, it's best not to hoon until you have driven from this point on for about 10min more!, as oil takes a longer time to reach its own normal operating temp, when compared to the coolant...
