Default Broken something but is it important ?

Hi i've got a 95 wrx which i'm in the process of changing the coil packs on. I removed the air box to try and make abit more room to work, but i noticed that i have broke something.

Its a metal threaded nipple that goes into what i think is the resonator at one end ,and what i think is the boost solinoid (part bolted to the o/s suspension turret) at the other.

Can this be left venting to air or does it have a more important roll ??

Any help greatly appreciated as yet again i will be stuck here at work untill i can get this sorted

Cheers

Brad

Ok this may make it clearer.

The solinoid which im talking about vents to 3 places :

1. Actuator
2. Turbo compressor housing
3. Airbox

It is the air box nipple which i have snapped

Block off the hole in the resonator box and leave the pipe venting to atmospere.
