Default DCCD Controller

Guys,

I'm just thinking about doing my own DCCD Controller and I wondered if anyone know's if this will work or not before taking the plunge.

I've got a V2 STI 555 but with a new DCCD box and diff, but instead of having the OEM controller, I'm just wondering if the below will work instead

12V 15A PWM DC Motor Speed Control Regulate RC Model on eBay, also, Terminals Cabling, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 23-Mar-09 07:51:45 GMT)

Mods dont remove the link please. I'm not advertising this but its the easiest way of getting some feedback.

I'd recommend DCCD-PRO or Neetronics.

The basic dccdpro setup is near enough the same thing as the link above. Neotronics is a good product but just a pain to get hold off

Re: Neetronics you might be right.
I have heard different opinions whether the dccd is controlled by 5v pulses or 12v. I trust the 5v most since it came from Neetronics, but I don' guarantee anything. So I can't advice anything for a DIY solution, other than buying a box from someone that do know how...
But I would call it risky, with my suspicion that the dccd is indeed controlled by 5v pulses, to buy a box that probably delivers 12v current.

Following on from Matts question to whether a 12v PWM as he shows is any good.

Has nobody had a voltmeter across to check the voltage of a OEM DCCD or anyone know for sure whether its 5v or 12v.

Thanks,

I did do some searching, but always found reference to the Retro fit units available, but no voltages given etc.

So from these links, it appears with a little additional kit you could apply the PWM kit that Matt shows could work rather than pay big bucks.

If the DCCD is not connected, it will run 100% open not locked. So most of the power will be going to the rear.

Did you get the rear diff from the STi? Otherwise you might have wrong gearing in the rear. NOT good...
If you do have the STi rear diff AFAIK it is a plated diff and so might be normal that it clicks on tight(?) turns.
Regarding the center diff it will not damage the car that you don't have a dccd controller, as Banny says it's fully open and sends 65% torque to rear, fun, but not the fastest...

DCCD is 12V.

The is a constant 12V supply to the diff and the controller switches the low side.

Santiago,
Until you source/make a adjustable controller unconnect the wires to the box and run open! Or fit it with a simple switch t be able to fully lock it for the occational situation when you would need to have it locked.
No wonder if it clicks if you run it with constant 12V supply!
