Default Airbag Light

1999 Subaru Impreza Sport 2 litre has airbag light on in dashboard. Light is permanently on and is starting to freak me out. Think the steering wheel may have been removed at some point and has knocked the sensor off but not too sure. Any way to reset the light and get it off? Or any other way to sole the issue since MOT wont like it!

Thanks

Phil - if the wheels been off I would check the connections in below the airbag to make sure they were reconnected.
Its quite simple - DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FIRST THOUGH!!
There are 2 torx screws at the side of the wheel. Loosten them off (they dont come right off) then lift the airbag off. From memory I think there are two connectors 1 yellow and 1 black. Check them.
If they are ok there is a connector further down the steering column as well would need to be checked. For this you need to remove the plastic above the pedals (about 5 or 6 screws) there is a yellow connector in there.

HTH

if the fault is fixed the light will reset by leaving battery disconnected for a couple of hours.
