Default engine or gearbox

i have a 95 wrx turbo import jdm. i was out in it last sunday.and after i put my foot down i was driving around slowly and heard a weird noise sounded like metal clattering but it would only do it in 3rd.as soon as i went to another gear it would go. so decided to take the car home.took it out the next day and drove it up the road fine until i went into 3rd again and started to clatter much much worse. then when i went out of 3rd it would not select any gears it was like the gearbox had locked up.after a few mins of fiddleing i managed to select a gear but now the clattering is in every gear.got back to my drive and was reversing in and the car came to a holt.was in reverse but something was stopping it from going back any further..now im 99% sure its the gearbox but dont want to go and fork out on a new gearbox and clutch to find out it could be something else.the car stilkl drives just clatters like hell and faster i go the worse it gets..........

I would say 3rd as it was doing it in 3rd from the start, may have locked up due to bits of broken gear been in the box. Def dont drive till fixed.

Some times clutch will be fine, other times may not. But once box is off you should not be charge for fitting clutch. When 3rd went on me needed clutch, and mine dint lock up so price a clutch in with rebuild box.
