Default Changed rad and cel comes on?

Hey folks,

Really need help at this stage, I broke the small pipe that comes out of the top of the rad to the header tank, so I replaced the rad, had no issues with the car before this, fitted the rad and started the car, a cel has now come on. Cant see at moment to do a manual check flash codes, also the car is having issues with a dead battery, can jump start it but if i stop and leave it for a day it wont start again, totaly flat click click click??

Please need some ideas on this a the cel freaks me out and i wont drive it so im stuck at home!

Cheers

Could be an erroneous CEL. Whilst you can't check for codes/do a proper reset because of the dark lol, try disconnecting the battery for about an hour (or overnight, if staying in). This will drain the ECU capacitor and will 'forget' any sensor CELs.

If it doesn't come back, then job done - nothing to worry about. Probably.

Should I still disconnect the battery even though its completely dead? No dash light or anything?

Could the lack of battery life cause the cel to come on??

My apologies - forgot you ementioned that . Well the next time you put a good battrey in, do the rest (unless the CEL goes away when the new batt is connected,, anyway).

I suppose a knackered batt could cause the CEL to come on, as they can play havoc with electrics (have you ever had an alarm play up when a batttery gets run down, for example?).

Yeah, I reckon it's fine. As you say prob the knack'd batt causing it.

You didn't disturb anything accidentalkly when you fitted the new radiator, did you? You haven't knocked the crank sensor, for example (under the alternator in top of block)?
