Default has the dreaded big end issue got better with age?

Hi all,

I used to run a 1996 2000 turbo that I ended up replacing the engine due to the dreaded big end issue.......

I was just wondering.. have subaru made any significant improvements to this down fall over the years.....? I have no idea..

I'm seriously thinking of getting another beast.. something around 2002 plus age?? VERY tempted to go down to the steal and take a new model for blast... but I know I would end up buying it and can not really afford it !!!

So - back to question - Scooby engines... better with age?

Thanks

H

scarey reading!! has anybody ever got to the bottom of why scoobys are so prone to this? It can't all be down to poor maintenance.
