Question 0.5 bar of boost

this car has nearly got me beaten,so some advice would be welcome with open arms my car is only boosting at 0.5 bar and feels week i thought the turbo was on its way out so changed it last night hoping to fix all my problems but guess what still same old 0.5 bar i changed the engine a while back and its never boosted correct ever since but its really starting to offend me now and i need to fix this as the car really used to pull so well.

this is a small list of some of the stuff i have tried

1.checked all pipe work

2.cleaned boost solinoid

3.changed turbo

4.reset ecu

im sure iv tried a few other things but cant think of anything else at the moment

oh and for some reson my boost gauge is teed off in to the acuator pipe for some reson it was like it when i got the car would this cause a problem

it could be running limp home mode, is ecu showing any stored fault codes or is check engine light coming on at any time?

how to read codes: Scoobypedia | Trusted knowledge for everything Subaru | Knowledge / Reading ECU Fault Codes

what they mean:

Agree with **** sounds like your in limp home mode, will give 0.5 bar of boost until errors are cleared or fixed, as he says check for codes and see what comes up

i had a similar problem with my 2001 wrx, i cleaned the solenoid as discribed put it back on and the car would only boost to 7 psi which is about 0.5 bar. what i did was to take of the pipe to the actuator and block the end of the pipe up then ran the car VERY carefully no foot to floor to see if the car would boost and it did, so if the solenoid is not working it opens up the wastegate to early hence not alot of boost. replaced the solenoid car works fine hope this may help

no way i had similar problem just today !

for some reason past 2 days car hasn't been pulling at all theres no kickin from the turbo

so this morning i looked at the boost gauge and it was only boosting at 0.5 bar. anyway on the way home from work got the temps nice n warm nailed down the motorway and as if by magic it was boosting again, i changed nothing ! ( in lower gears it was 0.7 (( which is what i used to get )) and in higher gears it went up to 0.8 bar for some reason )

anyway gauge is saying 0.7 bar like i used to get when it was good, my car is sposed to be 0.82/3 bar standard but i put it down to gauges not 100 percent accurate.

i have the 3port boost solenoid as standard on 1995 wrx imports

No, the restrictor is only in the actuator pipe on the later 2 port solenoids, the pic is correct The fact that you do not have one fitted could be the cause of your problems, they are available from main stealers for pennies

The resonator keeps the noise down.
Have you changed the boost solenoid for one that definately works?

Sounds like the nipple has been snapped off the res box, blank off the hole on the res box to prevent dirty/unmetered air being drawn in after the MAF and leave the pipe from the BCS to vent to atmosphere, that will be fine
