Cancelling check engine light WRX STI 54 plate
Hi guys. I have my check engine lamp showing on my STi. I have repaired the fault myself but cant cancel the lamp. I dont want to take it to the dealer as they charge a fortune for not alot of work!. I hear there is a method of connectors under the drivers side dash that can be connected to cancel the lamp? Any help would be gladly appreciated. Thanks guys

I beleive you have to take it to a garage with a code reader to get it reset. Can only manually do it on the classics. Doesnt have to be a dealers though. Someone will be along shortly to confirm though

you can reset the CEL light by disconnecting the negative battery terminal ,pressing the brake pedal a couple times , then reconnecting the negative battery terminal cable, this way you reset ecu.
once done i would start car let her run till she warms up then turn her off or go for a nice drive etc ...
obviously if you do have a problem the CEL will return.

You forgot to say it has to be while there's a full moon and you need to wear one white glove.
Think about it, the battery is disconnected so how would the ECU know if you pressed the brake pedal or not?
It's quite possible that disconnecting the battery may turn the CEL off but I can't see that pressing the brake pedal while the negative terminal is off would make the slightest difference.

Cancelling
The CEL light is easy turn the ignition on and off 4 times that will cancel it. I get this after an oil change and this is the way I was shown by Glenn at Carnetix. Works every time.
