Default headers

after fitting tubular headers to my wrx the car feels slower does anyone elses car feel the same way.

if it IS slower,then its affected the gas flow and possibly turbo spool
...you need a remap

How much power you running and what spec is the car?

Note: You shouldn't really upgrade to tubular headers unless your running 400+.....as the the tubulars headers will not give you any gains unless your over this figure....Ideally you should have just gone for a ported up-pipe if your below 400+...Sorry to be negative it may pay to give Harvey a call and ask his advice and supply of uppipe only.

That would be a backward step - good tubular headers should increase 10-20bhp and significantly improve midrange torque, thats what I found. Good benifits from 340+
The slower feel may be a slightly later spool- but if you're running good power, tubular headers wouldn't make your car slower, no way

From what I've read from knowledgeable people, tubular should only be used for applications above 400bhp, and that is still a fine line. So agree with what STI_Baly said.

I had tubular manifold fitted and after mapping got 318 at the hubs on a very accurate dyno (AET Turbos ). After blowing these I decided to try Harvey's ported ones and without remap got 324 on same dyno
So IMO you should try Harvey

what supporting mods + turbo did you have running 340? im also in a bit of a dilemma header wise

Notice I quoted at the hubs, fly will be higher obviously, but how much who knows?

It's a VF34 turbo which was part of a powerstation upgrade taking the car up to 300bhp, I upgraded TMIC,fuel pump and injectors (550) later, then up to325bhp/292lbsft. The headers were scourced and fitted by Zen and after re-map 339bhp/314lbsft. The difference is very noticable mid-range. I then had a water/meth injection system fitted which enabled more timing and that resulted 350bhp/333lbsft. I will go further.
The problem is tubular headers are expensive, buy cheap and they neither work nor last. Harvey's porting and polishing looks a good option and is one I didn't look at the time
