Default td05 turbo

ive just bought a td05 turbo with the a top entery to fit to my99 turbo 2000, but it is currenty runing the standerd turbo that has a front entery.
i was wondering if it could be fitted like it is and just reroot the afm like the earlyer scoobys or if you can buy other turbo houseing that will make it a front entry.
please help

As long as all your pipeing connects with no leaks wont make any difference really. apart from 1 in 90* and other is not.

cheers dont supose anyones got the bits needed or what model i could find them. i belive it would be an earlyer wrx or something simaliar.

The cheapest, less hassle, thing to do is to get a machine shop to angle-grind the snorkel off, and to reweld a suitable length collar on thus turning it into a front entry! It'll then simply fit straight back in to the original pipework!

That way you won't have to worry about reloacting airbox, MAF, etc... What a - unnecessary - headache that would be!

oh is it as easy to do as it sounds. supose i would just take the thing to a fabricators or is it a speacilist job

Yes. i've seen one for sale before, and I think a few members have had it done...

If you're not convinced or want a more professional job, then you might be able to get replacement front entry compressor covers (don't know where from though).

i have noticed that u can some time buy them like that but i think thats what has happened at some point anyway and it cheaper than buying a new cover

Mine was a brand new 90 degree 16G with the snorkel machined off so it's front entry. Didn't even have a collar welded on and there was still just about enough meat on there to get the inlet pipe on.
