Hi, you do not "need" an electronic boost controller as the car will have the boost adjusted by the mapper to the required pressure but they are a useful thing to have if it is an in car adjustable one.
I have a hybrid stand alone 2 stage boost controller fitted to my car and it is ideal for this time of year where you dont want all of the power all of the time.
I have mine set at 1 bar boost and 1.3 when wanting to push on
I got mine from Harvey for a very good price.
here is a link to the controller I have- YouTube - HYBRID electronic boost controller for Subaru Turbo

thats what i thought, that the map would sort the boost and all that out!but would be useful to be able to turn the boost down while just cruising around, and to see whats doing what!
Sorry to butt in.
I am going for a remap, I have a VF24 hybrid, with 1.2 bar actuator.
Fuel pump, decatted, ported headers and up pipe, bigger top mount, the injectors are the standard 440s. What would I be looking at as in BHP? Also will i be needing a boost controller then?
I would like to see over 300, my goal is 330

Some ECU's have better in built boost control than others, as mentioned above depending on what route you go down will determine if a separate boost controller is needed to get the same results.

Assuming it is newer than 96 then no need for a boost controller.
If earlier than 96 then if going for a simtek then no need for boost controller, if Apexi then needed or the boost control kit etc..

no need for boost controller no.
the headers will help.. did one recently still on standard td04 and it flew with tubular headers on.. like you say I didn't think they would have made a difference but they really did
