Not quite what you were after, but this one did the rounds a few years ago.

I think a few people have toyed with using the 3.0 TT Legacy engine, or the 3.3 (IIRC) from the old Subaru SVX Coupe.

Just transplant a TT Legacy engine, if there's enough room.

No real point in it now with hybrid twin scroll turbo's, even on the TT legacy it wasnt perfect, so unless you like chucking money down a pit....

Why the added unecessary complication, when you can get an easy 600/600 with single rotated turbo set-up, for example. Okay, with 2 turbos, they can be 'tiny' ones for loads of low down torque and a great top end, but it's not like the Impreza (Classic especially) is lugging around a tuckload of weight is it?

Speaking to Sam Jones of Zen on Friday, and as some of you might know, his early Type RA is up for sale with a WRC spec engine built by ZEN/TSL. It apparently cost him way over 7 grand... but that's what the whole car is currently up for - see here for full (extremely impressive) spec:-

Subaru : Subaru Impreza Type RA race, track or fast road

Can you believe, on the stock TD05H 16g (carefully ported), it's producing 400/400?! - it MUST have massive undergraph torque area! ... Exactly what yoiu want for the road.

Bugger, wish I had a spare £7k burning a hole in my bank account!
