RAD FANS NOT WORKING. HELP
Hi lads, i had a nice power set up in a uk spec turbo, but wanted it in a 2dr so brought everything across and put into 00 2dr, put simtec in and had to swap cam and crank sensors around to get it to run, thats only difference i was aware off, but now it seems i have no rad cooling fans working???? fans are perfect, fuses are ok, relays seem to be ok, is there something different in ecu fron uk spec to jap?????

what version of car did you have and which version do you have now? there is a difference between the model years, the ECU might not be compatible with the car you have now?

if it was a different year the ecu wouldn't plug in.
the only change on the 99 and 00 is the cam and crank sensor as you say...
it is switchable in software within the simtek..
The rad fans are triggered from the coolant temp and the output pin is the same between the JDM and UK.. strange.
On a side issue I presume you transfered everything including the engine?

yep everything, thats funny thing, as far as i can remember the fans worked alrie in the 00 4dr, and worked in 2dr, so i now hav complete engine in 2dr with all same sensors still in it, the temp gauge is working so would that rule out the temp switch or could it be working the gauge and not the fan,? i pulled conector of temp sensor and it has 3 conectors, one is live, so not sur how switch works and controls relay, any idea?

does your cross pipe have two temp sensors in or one?
if two then the other sensor does the gauge..
the ecu monitors the coolant temp sensor (alters fuellnig when cold etc) and triggers the rad fans when a set temp is seen.. whcih is configuarble in the ecu.. but as it worked in the other car the map cannot change so it much be something electrical on the car?
No chance of an air lock and sensor not seeing true temperature?

I can't remember what year they stopped putting the second sensor on for the gauge and used just the one.. think it might be 99 and in whcih case you just have the one. therefore sensor working etc..
something that would be worth doing just being it takes no time at all is to unplug the ecu and replug it.. making sure all the plugs go fully home etc.. you never know

Done a goodbit of investigating today, and still no succes apart from ruling out, put old ecu back an ran car and let it heat and still no fans, changed temp sensor and still no fans, earths on chassis legs are perfect. Had car running and temp was above half way wen i think fans shud be on, with a basic light up tester i checked the plug that plugs onto fan and i had to live there, anyone tell me what way to test this further?
