Look in car parts, Griff is breaking that 425bhp wrx, the gearbox is a TY754 and is good for that sort of power

Strongest 5 speed box is the sti 5/6/P1 gearbox. TY754VBAAA but you will need the matching rear diff and gearing will be slightly shorter at 21mph per 1k rpm.

Pretty good but very short!! 19mph per 1k rpm, so you will be at 4krpm at 80mph. Not very motorway or economy friendly and if you get an sti ra box you will have the headache of trying to retro fit dccd into your car, in my opinion not the best option.

the ra box does seem like a right pain, sounds like the sti 5/6/p1 box is about the best option

I'd seek a lower mileage same box, check on the passenger side front turret plate should read TY754. I understand TY752 not as durable.
The standard gearbox should be good up and beyond 400bhp providing the driver has a car friendly driving style. Lots of quick dashes and pulling the gear lever straight through all the while when acellerating hard would trash any gearbox 5or6speed.
Hope this doesn't seem over the top buddy, it's just the way it's told to me
cheers
Trevor

believe it or not the standard clutch has been totally fine but i have a fast road organic clutch sat in the garage with a lightweight flywheel as i thought the clutch would nt last long but as the gearbox has to come off i might as well change it now, as for mileage about 4000 miles tops and 6 months but that is reasonably sensible driving, i suppose the thing is you dont know how the car has been treated before i got it

i try to be soft on the gearbox & hard on the clutch lol

my standard clutch died after the remap (it had done 40k)

if you get it rebuild, i would be interested at want it costs

+ if they do a good job (i will take my car there)

The product has always come as described with them, which is more than can be said of some of the others

No complaints with the service that's for sure, I've been buying things from Saj since he was breaking cars from home years ago.
