Engine after rebuild
is it normal for there to be a knocking from a rebuilt engine after about 6k? mainly when cold it is noticable if not what could it be as i am unhappy with what mine had been doing untill it let go last night and just want to know if it could of been somethin that should of been picked up
you can get noise when cold on a rebuild depending on what pistons have been used (piston slap), this usually disappears when upto temp though.
If your engine has let go 6k after a rebuild and it had been knocking, then the likelyhood is it is a problem with the rebuild.
What caused the original failure and hence need for rebuild?
Were things like the oil pump and modine replaced, along with cleaning of all oil galleries etc?
Was the crank reground?
I would be having words with whoever built it

it started making noises after 6k but let go after about 8k, as far as i know it was all cleaned etc but cannot check, the rebuild was done as the original main bearings where wearing out and was caught when they had only just gone through the initial coatings, was very hard to tell the noise as was very quiet at times
