Is It Worth It?
Guys and Girls I'm looking for some advice. I have a Blobeye WRX which has had some engine mods but only really the first stage. I reckon it's putting out about 280bhp.
What I'd like to know is would it be worth me fitting an STi intercooler to replace my standard WRX one. If I did this would I need to get my car remapped again?
If the car would need remapped again then it would obviously be worth my while sticking in a bigger turbo and some bigger injectors correct?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Baz

World' s your oyster re mods for x amont of power.
Best way to tackle it is how much do you want to spend and do you have a power goal in mnd? Answer these 2 questions first truthfully, then a suitable modding plan can be arrived at ..... Or otherwise you could be spending serious dosh on stuff you wouldn't actually need.

Ok yeah I'm aware of that. I suppose I'm happy with the power I've got just now but that magical 300 mark is quite tempting.
All I'm wanting to know is would it be a waste of a hundred sheets buying a second hand STi intercooler and if I did buy one and fit it would I need my car remapped again?
Simple ta

AFAIK, the standard WRX intercooler is good for about 320-330bhp, so unless you're running silly boost from a small turbo, you'll probably be OK - IMO.
Also, I'd always go for an STI top mount over a FMIC at that level. I tried an autobahn and wasn't happy with the throttle response (yes it was mapped, no there weren't any boost leaks) so switched to an STI top mount and now it's spot on. An STI top mount seems to be cheaper nowadays anyway as well, so even more reason to chose one of them if you want to upgrade
