What thickness would you recommend, taking into account the head has just been skimmed.

The 'main' 3 specialists I've spoken to i.e. API, Zen and RCM all advocate using steel HG replacements, over fibre, where appropriate. I think API and RCM use MLS STi v.1-4 ones for upto MY98. And Zen use super duper metal Cosworth items with all sorts of treatments to them (check it out on their site). MY93-98 are 1.6mm thick.

The MY99/00 ones, I believe, are only 0.6mm, I think.

I did my head gasket last year on my sprint car, I used OE STI MLS v3 gaskets ( £100 ish a pair ) and added a set of ARP head studs as well. Car perfect

Oh, I'm sure they'll be okay (I think others have bought those itmes and have had no trouble, etc.).

Just that while they're about the same price, it would've been logical to get ones that the actual specialists supply and use.

Never mind .
