2.5 upgrade
I'm thinking of some big mods for my Scoob, now am i right in thinking that for a 2.5 upgrade all you need is the block and not the head?
What kind of price would i be looking at paying a garage for this upgrade?

Depending on what car you have (as it can turn out to be a little more costly that you first think) about 1500 quid for a short motor, but that also depends on the pound v anything else.
On a 5 speed box car your going to be looking at a potential gear box replacement in the near future (there are hidden costs involved in going for a 2.5) and a 2nd hand 6 speeder is anything between 2-2.5k, and a clutch that will take the torque.

ok, best keep the mods too a sensible level for the time being. I've got a UK turbo 2000 so might just keep this for the time being get it to around 3-330 bhp and then as soon as i turn 25 (and insurance premiums come down) go for the type r, get the 2.5 and go all out!

Its a bit of a myth that your insurance premiums actually go down when you hit 25, the best thing is a very good post code, being married, having kids, home owner and a garage, of course they will all be more expensive than paying the extra 100 quid a year and no point in getting a type r and doing a 2.5, the gearboxes are slightly stronger, but not by much
