Default Ive broken it...help!

Ive only had my WRX wagon for 3 weeks...

I was out driving last night with a few mates. I wasnt even giving it any right foot when i started to hear what i thought was a rubbing noise from the front right of the car. I ignored it at first because it was intermittent...
but then it started to get louder and louder.....

I pulled over to have a look at the wheels/brakes and everything seemed to be ok....
so i continued again...then the noise got louder and louder...like a rubbing noise cutting in and out....i started to notice the noise was affected with different throttle inputs and there was no change when turning left or right or braking.

Next thing i know....i pull off and i have no boost.....but then it suddenly comes back. So i put my foot down a bit so see whats going on and the boost is fine up to 6k revs then when i let off there was a loud squeak, a grinding noise and then suddenly nothing. the boost has gone...there is no spooling whatsoever..and now its accompanied by a rattling/grinding from the turbo area of the engine

Oh dear. The car drives ok off boost and theres also no smoke (which is strange because i suspect the turbo). Also no warning lamps.....

The car is 1998 WRX Import Wagon with a cat back exhaust, a filter and a DV....thats it.

So help! lol any suggestions or things to check/try?

ta

sounds like your turbo is nackered mate wip off the turbo intake hose and have alook at the shaft see if the blades are damaged and see if there is any movement in it .
p.s i wouldnt start/drive the car untill you know whats wrong as it might end up costing you your engine .

I hope it isnt the turbo...but it probably is. Why would there be no smoke though?

i would check the intercooler hoses first , for splits or mybe loose, as i think this would make her loose boost, and sound like a bag of s-it,,try to have a check done on all your boost pipes

Right its been checked over at Thwaite Developments. The turbo is f*cked.
Its seized and mullered the shaft. The shaft is now wobbling round.

Bit gutted since ive only had the car 3 weeks....but hey sh*t happens.

Perhaps it's TD05 20G time... or even MD321H! (get at least 550s and a front mount though...)

I was going down the TD05 16G, 440's, Power FC route....

But ive decided not to for the moment so just going with a replacement TD04 and a new downpipe.

For now...
