Whats the best Turbo to go for with standard Internals STI 08?
Is a TD05-20G a good solution?
I had the TD05-18G on my old STI 05 and It was real good at low revs but I missed the power in higher revs. On that car the engine was 2.0 litre. The new 08 STI has the 2.5 litre engine so I understand that the car will generate more torque in both low and high revs.
The plan is:
new ECU
Complete exhaust system
fuel rail
injectors (is it side or top mounted on the 2.5????)
Intercooler
The horsepower will be around 400 in a descent boost (max 1.4 bar)
So is the TD05-20G a good way in achieving this or is it far more better turbos out on the market today? The car will be used as a trackday car.
Regards
Johan

Looks like the correct spec, but 400 hp will depend on which rolling road you visit.
There is always the MD321T, but its cost is a fair bit more than the 20g.
I've recently fitted a 20g to an 06 2.5 STi and its now getting 1 bar at 2600 rpm, peak boost by 3000 rpm (1.45 bar), yet the power doesn't curve at all with boost falling to 1.25 bar.
There was no need for new injectors, just an increase in fuel pressure.
Your turbo choice will really be down to the budget IMHO.

I bought my last turbo from Andy Forrest. Really good service from him.
Yes the 20G is a little bit cheaper than for example GT30 or GT35. But to use that type of horsepower I will need Cosworth pistons, rods, gasket etc and that Is not what I have in mind this time.

i run a 20G from Andy.F on my STi with standard internals no problem, but like Butty says you will struggle to reach 400 with it, if your after 400 then the MD321T is probably your best option, unfortunately it costs alot more than the 20G

Ok,
Thankīs for the suggestions :-)
The 2.5 L engine in STI8 is that the same engine that have been used on STI7 and 6 also? Or did Subaru make a whole new for the STI8?

Itīs ok ;-) The States had the 2.5 L STI for many years, and we had the 2.0 L STI from 2002-2005. Then the 2.5 L STI engine was introduces for us at 06-07. And the new STI 08 has also the 2.5 L engine but with increased performance (305 hp and 407 nm of torque).
