I think 20ish is about average for me. From steady motorway driving, quick sprints and around the doors.

Really?
Not that I doubt you, but I never see anything over 30 no matter how careful I am.
As for 40's, dream on.

nottingham to bristol on £20,

admitedly was a good run, no traffic so cruising all the way and was driving like miss daisy, stay off the turbo, under 3 k revs and 0-60 in 12 mins 37 seconds lol but prob rough average of about 65mph (down hill makes a buig difference)

disagree if you want, but i was there not you also i've got a my00 classic uk turbo. not a fat blob, hehehe, sorry tounge in cheek comment lol

As I said I don't doubt you. You get what you get. You've got to be very determined to get good mpg by staying off the blower. I can only manage that usually when there's nothing left in the tank, and by then it's too late to worry about it.

Miss Daisy in a Scoob - nice mental picture!

You're right about blobs being overweight though, maybe that's the reason for the name after all.

it was hard, i started to do it on the way back but then bumped into a boxster on the motorway, MPG went down after that for some reason

I get about 200-220 miles to tank which is around 20-22 mpg I think.

It goes down to single digits on track

wrt 40mpg post above. If I drained all the fuel out of the car and shoved it off a cliff I could not achieve 40mpg.
