Don't use boost! Ideally keep driving it to an absolute minimum too i.e. only when you can't use a friend's/relative's car or public transport. I can't stress this enough!
Your previous turbo would have been a small TD04. The VF22 is a bigger turbo, so will be pushing more air through for the same target boost!, and your ECU hasn't been recalibrated to add the appropriate extra fuel and timing optimisation. You must get it mapped ASAP... get JGM on your case...
Obviously, you'll need a remappable ECU like the Apexi PFC or the Simtek. If your 380 injectors can take it, then you can get it mapped to 1.35bar of target boost, which'll prob give about 300-310odd horse (assuming full decat downpipe/system).

I drove about on a td05 16g for a month unmapped with no problems.
I was just carefull and didnt let rip untill mapped...........not worth a new engine for two minutes fun.
Be warned though when you put the new turbo before map your car will feel its running without a turbo.....no power felt at all!!!!!!

That's irresponsible of whoever said that it won't need a remap with that turbo replacement. Ignore their 'advice' and listen to us lol. Stay off boost and get it mapped asap - you'll only live to regret it, if not.
Am I to take it by your opening sentence that you HAVE been hooning with this turbo on, umapped, then? How many times/for how long, if so? Not wise my friend - let's hope no damage has been done...

OMG...........As above. When I changed my turbo, it was the day before my remap and drove like Miss Daisy till mapped.
I'm surprised your car hasnt exploded by now. Turn it off, throw away the keys then go and look for them when you have booked it in for an ECU change.
Or buy one of my TD04 turbos off me for £80
I have them up in the for sale section, then you can boost it whenever you want and wont cost you 2g for a 2nd hand engine.

I vill zay zis only once - you WILL need a mappable ECU fitted and mapped for your new turbo and/or FMIC. If you carry on hooning as it is you will say by bye to one of your pistons or big ends in the very near future!
TBH, I'm worried for you already, if you say that you've been ragging it over a 3 month period on that bigger turbo!
