If I remember right, if your MAF sensor is working the car should stall when you disconnect it, it shouldn't continue to run.

would the engine not just take readings from the other sensors on the engine and keep it running tho at a higher idle?

It could be your Idle control valve which sits on the trottle body.

Might need a good clean out, but make sure you get a new gasket before cleaning it with petrol. a new ICV is a fortune and gasket is about a tenner.

If you can temporarily rig up a voltmeter/multimeter to the MAF's electrical connector and run the meter in the car, then you can check the output voltages at idle and everything in between up to the rev limit. It should be about 1000-1100mV (1.0-1.1V) at idle and near 5000-5100mv (5.0-5.1V) at max revs, with in-between readings being proportional to the revs used.

av heard it could be the Idle control valve aswell a just hope its not done any damage to my engine tho, also thought the turbo sounded abit strange when spooling up not the usually sound tho a take it if 1 of the sensors is knackered it could affect the running of my turbo ?

I was told that the car does not need to stall completely. When i discconect my maf the revs drop (just about to stall) then revs back up to idle. Is this ok

thats the new maf sensor fitted and still the same ! take it must be the idle control valve ?? when the car starts from cold it sounds fine just when it warms up and trys to idle it starts fluctuating sounds like the cars hunting then it ends up stalling ??
