Question Boost gauge wireing

Treated myself to a boost gauge.
Could someone please tell me }
Which pipe do I splice the vacum pipe into ?
And Im gonna fit the gauge on the drivers pillar, could you please tell me the best place to connect the power for the gauge, bearing in mind that there's about 18" of cable on the gauge , and if poss without haveing to strip too much of the dash apart
It's a bugeye if that matters.
Thanks

I ran the power feed from the radio, as it has a switched live and lights live if you need it.
The boost line splices into the one of vacumme lines on top of the inlet manifold

I took my power off the fog light switch, nice short run from the driver's pillar. There's a wiring diagram here .Mac - iDisk that shows the pins on the switch harness carrying the live and earth feeds

I spliced my vacuum pipe into the pipe coming off the top of the BOV

With mounting gauge on pillar, where's best place to run vacum pipe in to engine bay

The vacuum pipe will run down between the upper dash and the door trim - you can push it in behind the rubber trim nice and neat - then behind the lower dash. Up above the brake pedal you'll see a rubber grommet through the firewall into the engine bay - you want to cut a hole in the grommet to feed the pipe through into the bay. Take the grommet out to cut rather than try to cut a hole in place - I tried that and just managed to push the grommet out never to be seen again!

If you go here - Free Publications > Accessory Installation Guides - you can download an installation guide for the official boost gauge. Apart from the info re mounting on the steering column the process is the same

I found the vacuum pipe that came with my gauge was only just long enough to fit, and not long enough to route nicely around the back of the intercooler and down to the BOV. It's working, but not very neat or secure. I think I had about 2m supplied; if yours is similar it might be worth thinking about getting a longer length of vacuum pipe and cutting it to fit after you've got a neat install

On my boost gauge i've got a 12v battery wire and a 12v switch wire
Can I wire the 12v battery wire to the switch wire. I don't understand why it needs a constant feed as the gauge will only need to work when ignition is switched on

switched feed will be illumination so if you don't mind it lit up all the time then wire both to ignition live.
if you have smoked dial you need to do this anyway otherwise u can't see them during the day
