Default Why don't Impreza's run screamer pipes?

Friends of mine who have Skylines, 200SX's etc have screamer pipes which sound the nuts....

Don't they fit on our stock turbo's or something?

Generally only fitted to cars with external waste gates or large core turbo’s.
They won’t run as such with the OE Subaru turbo as this is in built via the actuator which vents the internal waste gate into the downpipe.

Gay?

Don't the MD series turbos etc allow for the use of screamer pipes/External waste gates?

You would need to bridge the gap between the turbo outlet and wastegate

so they are split then the wastegate can vent to atmosphete and the turbo outlet carries on down the downpipe.

like this

I made one for my Evo6. Sounded nuts.

I see, thanks for that mate!

Can you not buy a turbo with the gap already bridged? Or is there companies which do this for you?

My APS has a "divider" but not sure how complete a job it does. All bolt-on Scooby turbos, MD included, will have an integral wastegate. A BIG custom twisted set-up will use an external waste-gate, but the cost rises to eye-watering proportions....

imho

It's generally GT30+ sized turbos which run external waste gates
